Have you worked so hard for so long you’ve forgotten some of your most passionate life goals? I did, but caught myself just in the knick of time. I had always wanted to be a world traveller, but it wasn’t until my 30th birthday that I really got it together. Within a few months, I boarded a plane to the northern tip of Africa with a backpack and a heart pounding so heavy with nerves I nearly peed my pants anytime somebody tried talking to me.
I had bought a round the world ticket with intentions of hitting every continent…this is what I managed to cover over 12 months.
- Egypt
- Jordan
- Kenya
- Tanzania
- Zambia
- Namibia
- South Africa
- Japan
- China
- Thailand
- Cambodia
- Vietnam
- Laos
- Singapore
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Chile
- Argentina
- Uruguay
- Brazil
- Peru
- Mexico
- USA (15 states)
- Canada (6 provinces)
…and then I returned to England for 6 months, walked across the country with my beloved backpack, flew over to Iceland for a quickie, touched down in NYC (definitely my next city of residence!) and returned to my hometown of Vancouver Canada. From that point, I decided to change my life a bit.
I am no longer just Fiona, the loyal worker. I am Fiona, a world traveller also known as the Babe With A Backpack. It’s amazing what a BIG TRIP can really do for the soul!
