Six months ago I found out about a competition involving travel passion and personality-characteristics that really define who I am. Little did I know how much the Best Travel Job Ever would take over my life! Leading up to the semi-finalists announcement I kept busy by learning about social networking and making videos. Lucky for me, I then got chosen and  began an amazing 2 week adventure in China with Sonja. Back in Vancouver, I returned to the drudgery of editing and promoting. But this is what I signed up for right? This is what I like right? Right. I suppose all jobs can be a little of love and hate at times. And really, this is a competition. I still have a real job and other parts of life to catch up on. So I was a little down in the dumps, also known as post holiday blues.

My 3 video submissions were uploaded (Youth, Couples & Boomers) and I sat back to watch this journey come to a close. Then I saw the other semi-finalists voting stats growing as mine stayed still. Judges will be making the decision as to who the 2 grand finalists are, but the public will vote in the ‘fan favourite’. My toes began to curl and my mind was set into overdrive. “I can’t just sit back and let this happen,” I said as I polished off a tub of Haagen Daz. “Sonja and I should be fan favourites. Team Asia WILL BE fan favourites!”.

So the Babe with a Backpack is back into action, my normal full of energy self wants to give this competition a run for it’s money. So off with the press releases, the blog updates, the posters in the library. The facebook status reminders, the tweets and the constant checking of how many votes I have.I’ve climbed up to third place, right behind my travelling partner Sonja. This isn’t quite enough to claim first place yet as Jason from Squamish seems to have recruited an army of voters. But I have no fear ‘cuz you are here! Currently, we need 800 votes to be in the game. Really, that’s 260 registered voters using their 3 daily votes, and spread over the remaining 6 days that’s about 40 extra voters per day. Of course, we still need to keep up with our already established daily votes too! So can ya help us out? Spread the word, the links and the story of the 2 Canadian women that have almost made it to first place?

I have three videos, and you get three daily votes until August 11th. That’s right, August 11th. My pleas will soon be over and my Best Travel Job Ever fate will be sealed.
